Rica Van Dyke | Female | Momma cat (DSH) |
Rescue Story:
I came into care with my litters of kittens (older and younger, the Van dykes). My youngest are now old enough to find forever homes. Sadly, my owner couldn't keep me, as he became homeless and needed to stay with family who had allergies. I hope to find my forever home soon!
Date of Birth: 2021
Energy Level: Low
Size (adult): Medium

Good with Dogs? No
Due to my shyness, unlikely.
Good with Cats? Very specific cat(s) only
I do like my kittens and I could be adopted with one of them. Haven't met any other cats.
Good with Kids? Maybe
Likely not, but maybe if they are older and quiet, ones who understand shy cats, we could be friends.
Critter Twitter:
I am a sweet girl who wants to be loved but is very shy. I don't mind being petted, but I won't actively seek out lap time. Maybe once settled in, I could be quite the lap cat. I do come and rub up against my foster for attention. Other than that, I am quite the tree dweller and usually up high. I hope my new home has plenty of tall cat trees near windows; that would be my dream home! Cat shelving would work too. I can't wait to find my forever home. #shybutsweet
About my Behaviour:
I am quite shy, and I will require a calm, quiet home. I will need time and love to settle in. I could easily be adopted with one or two of my kittens, especially if they are played out. I love them, but they don't really seem to understand that I prefer to just chill and not be pestered to play. I haven't met any other cats in care; I'm not sure how I would be with them.
How’s my Health?
I am fixed, microchipped, and dewormed. The number of vaccines will depend on the length of care. I must be fed at least one meal of wet food a day for hydration. Wet food is important, as it's best for kitties, so please make sure it's in my diet. Wet food is higher in protein and can be lower in carbs. It also gives added moisture, which is important, as dry-food-only-fed cats tend to be dehydrated, which can lead to UTIs. Gabapentin would be a good idea to give to me the first month so I can settle in more quickly.
