Critter Twitter:
Hi, I’m Gertrude, a sweet girl who has finished raising my puppies, and now it’s finally my turn to find a family of my own! I’m a shy girl, so I’ll need a patient family who understands that feeling safe and comfortable in a new home will take time. I might not be ready to show you my whole personality right away, but please give me a chance to blossom at my own pace. Once I trust you, I’ll become your little shadow, happily following you around and enjoying the comfort of having my favourite people nearby. Having another friendly dog in my forever home is a must because their companionship helps me feel more confident and shows me that the world isn’t such a scary place. I’ll need gentle encouragement, a predictable routine, and lots of love as I settle into my new life. Give me a cardboard box to shred, and I’ll be one happy girl with a project to keep me busy. If you have a kind heart, a friendly dog, and the patience to let a shy girl find her feet, I promise I’ll make it worth the wait when I finally choose you as my person.
About my Behaviour:
I am house trained and am good in my crate, it's my safe place. I am still learning the ropes of living in a home so I do sometimes chew on things I shouldn't if I'm left unattended. I am a very timid pup who will need a patient home who will take things slow and continue building my confidence. I do seem to warm up to females faster than males. The other dogs in my foster home help with my confidence so I will require another dog in the home. I'm a smart, young girl so ensuring I get proper mental and physical stimulation will be important. To ensure we get off on the right paw, my adopters will be required to sign up for force-free training. You can find a list of great trainers at www.albertaforcefreealliance.com.
How’s my Health?
I recently had surgery on my back knee for a subluxating patella and am expected to make a full recovery. I am spayed, up to date on my vaccinations, dewormed and microchipped.
