Critter Twitter:

Hi! I’m Monk, but my friends call me Patch. I’m looking for a family who wants a dog that’s equal parts adventure buddy, snuggle bug, and goofy best friend. My favourite things in life include sniffing absolutely everything, chewing on a good enrichment toy, meeting new dogs friends, running as fast as I can at the dog park, and curling up beside my people when the day is done. I love being involved in whatever my humans are doing. Making dinner? I’ll supervise. Watching TV? I’ll be nearby. Heading out on an adventure? Count me in. If you’re talking to me, there’s a good chance you’ll get my signature head tilt while I try to figure out every word you’re saying.

While I have plenty of puppy energy, I also have a great off-switch. I love walks, training, and adventures, but I’m also a champion napper and am perfectly happy to spend a lazy weekend morning sleeping in with my people. When I’m comfortable, my silly side really comes out. I get epic bed zoomies where I rub, wiggle, and throw myself around like I’ve just discovered the greatest invention in history. My foster family laughs at me daily. I’m a smart boy who loves learning and genuinely wants to make my people happy. Praise means the world to me, and I work hard to be the very best boy I can be.

I can be a little sensitive when facing new situations and I have a big bark when I’m nervous, but I’ve made huge strides in building confidence. What I need most is a family who will encourage me, cheer me on, and help me continue exploring the world. In return, you’ll get a loyal companion with a huge heart, endless affection, and plenty of snuggles.

About my Behaviour:

I’m fully house trained, crate trained, and doing great in daycare. One of my biggest accomplishments has been learning to relax and sleep comfortably in my crate while my foster family is away, and I’ve come a long way in building confidence in new environments. I’m an exceptional listener at home and when visiting friends and family. I walk nicely on a loose leash in familiar places, regularly check in with my people, and already know a long list of commands including sit, spin, touch, under, place, up, off, crate this way, and many more. I love training and learn new things quickly. My nose is always on the go, and exploring new smells is one of my favourite activities. In new places I can get excited and pull on leash because there are simply so many interesting things to investigate. I absolutely love other dogs. I play well with dogs of all sizes, read their social cues, and enjoy making new friends. Sometimes I get a little overexcited and introduce myself at full speed, but my friendly nature always shines through. I also live successfully with a cat and am generally calm around him, although I occasionally forget how big I am and still hope he’ll agree to play. Sometimes I like to keep an eye on what he’s doing around the house, especially if he seems interested in human food. Meeting new people can be a little overwhelming at first. I do best with introductions outside, treats, and encouragement. Once I know someone is safe, I quickly become affectionate, loyal, and eager to make a new friend. My ideal family will appreciate that I’m a smart, sensitive, funny young dog who thrives with routine, positive reinforcement, and lots of love. I’m already a very good boy, and with continued support I’m going to make an incredible lifelong companion. As a condition of adoption, we must register for a force free, in-person, group training class. We’ll learn so much and bond, and I can have some socializing time with other dogs in a safe environment, which is really critical for young pups! How’s my Health?

I am neutered, up to date on my vaccinations, dewormed and microchipped. I am also currently taking daily anxiety medication to help me feel calmer and more confident while I continue working on my training and adjustment to new situations. Zoe’s cannot guarantee what breeds.
