Oxy   |   Male   |   Dachshund X   |

Rescue Story:

I came to Zoe's as an owner surrender due to an injury. The history is a bit vague, but it seems I was bitten by a dog and suffered nerve damage to my front left leg, leaving it in need of an amputation. I haven't been well socialized and it is believed I didn't spend much time indoors, so I am learning the ropes with my foster family.

Date of Birth: January 2017

Energy Level: Medium

Size (adult): Small - 12.6 lbs

Adoption Fee:

Good with Dogs? Yes
It seems like I'm good with small dogs. I haven't met any larger ones since being in foster care so we're unsure about that, as my history states that I was injured when bit by a dog.
Good with Cats? Yes
I like cats - I am playful and may be too much for some cats though.
Good with Kids? Yes
So far I like kids as long as they aren't too quick moving.

Critter Twitter:

Hi there - my name is Oxy! Yes, I can be a little shy and nervous when first meeting people but I'm learning to trust more each day. I'm not really sure what new people's intentions are so my instincts are often to get away and not to let them touch me. My foster mom is working on helping me to have positive interactions with people. That being said, once I feel comfortable and let my real personality show, I am a very playful and happy little fellow. I like to spend time with the people I do trust, either playing or snuggling on the couch. I also really like to play with other animals. My doggy friend in the house only wants to play sometimes, so I'm learning to take the hint and play with the cat instead. Sometimes I have to be told to be more gentle when I get really riled up, but let's be honest... the cat usually starts it. I think having another dog around has really built up my confidence though. I think I'd do well in a household with a buddy that is on a similar playing wavelength. I am mostly house trained and have been learning to love my crate. #tripawdsweetie#adoptdon'tshop

About my Behaviour:

I need someone to continue building my confidence with people. I do get startled when people come to the door and will bark, so apartment life isn't a good idea for me.

How’s my Health?

I am neutered, vaccinated and micro chipped. I'm also down a front leg, so it is very important that I maintain a lean, healthy body weight.
