Willow Tree   |   Female   |   Schnauzer   |

Rescue Story:

I was surrendered when I was diagnosed with diabetes. But my medical condition isn't all that bad; my foster mum says it's much easier to manage than human diabetes.

Date of Birth: 2008

Energy Level: Medium

Size (adult): Small

Adoption Fee:

Good with Dogs? Yes
I love my foster brother Mickey!
Good with Cats? Yes
I've always lived with cats and am very relaxed around them.
Good with Kids? No
Kids terrify me so I would like a home without them. Teenagers are ok.

Critter Twitter:

Hi, my name's Willow. I met a dog at my new foster home named Mickey and he is the best, and I love him so much, and I want him to be my best friend forever. Mickey doesn't feel the same about me... YET. I'm sure that if I lay down across from him, and look at him with my deep brown eyes, and wiggle my little sausage tail, he will eventually stop sighing and turning away. He will give in to my love.

About my Behaviour:

I quiet and mild, but I also like to protect my home by announcing someone at the door who I doesn’t know. I warm up to strangers quickly, especially if they have treats in their pockets (but I only get treats on special occasions because of my diabetes). I am proud to say I am completely house trained.

How’s my Health?

I have diabetes, which means that I'll need insulin injections for the rest of my life, as well as regular vet visits for monitoring. The vet says that this will have little effect on on my health and lifespan, as long as I'm well cared for. I also have mild arthritis, and take meds if I need it, but it hasn't slowed me down. My medical costs are ~$50 per month. I am still active and like to go on walks and play with other dogs.
