Zippy Zipper   |   Male   |   Mixed Breed   |

Rescue Story:

I was originally rescued by Zoe's when I was about 5 months old and adopted out. Unfortunately the child in the home developed allergies to me so I'm hoping for a second chance at a furever home.

Date of Birth: November 3, 2023 (est)

Energy Level: Medium - as long as I get a good walk or play session then I'm quite content to snuggle up and nap at home.

Size (adult): Large (approx 75lbs)

Adoption Fee: *ADOPTION FEE WAIVED*

Good with Dogs? Very specific dog(s) only
I do need slow intros to new dogs and would do best as a solo dog or with a calm, neutral dog who's about my size.
Good with Cats? No
I have a strong prey drive so no kitties or small critters for me please.
Good with Kids? Yes
Older kids would be best as I sometimes forget my size.

Critter Twitter:

Hiiii! I'm Zippy, but most people call me Rex or Rexy, or Rexy Roo. I'm goofy, smart, eager to please and love to be with my people. I will be your biggest shadow, and loyal companion, and dedicated lap warmer. I love to chomp the water hose, baths are ok but personally I think I smell just fine! Frozen broccoli is the best thing ever, and soft things like pillows and blankets are heavenly. I don't intentionally destroy my toys, but if they cant stand up to tug, well, that's the toys fault.

About my Behaviour:

I am house trained. I'm not crate trained but have free roam at my foster home and am a good boy. My foster family has been working on my leash skills, I'm doing better at ignoring bicycles and bunnies. I'm good at waiting for my food on my bed, asking to be let outside, shake a paw, chilling on my bed, getting my paws cleaned, and waiting for treats. I still need a bit of practice letting humans go ahead of me when leaving the house for walks and keeping on the ground when the humans come home. I can't help it though! I need to tell them all about my day while they worked. I will need a patient adopter who will keep working on my confidence as I can take time to warm up to new people. It doesn't take me long to warm up but I can be guarded at initial meetings. Zoe's will include 2 private training sessions with a certified force-free trainer with my adoption to help set my new family up for success!

How’s my Health?

I am neutered, up to date on my vaccinations, dewormed and microchipped. I have a healthy appetite, but I may regurgitate food if my dish is on the floor. I have raised food and water dishes and on a soft food diet (wet food or soaked kibble) to help with this.
