Rescue Story:
My owners rescued me but were no longer able to care for me as I have some behavioural issues that didn't make me a fit for their home so they surrendered me to Zoe's to find a more suitable retirement home.

An adult only home would be best as kids make me anxious.
Critter Twitter:
Hi there, I’m Toby, a sweet senior gentleman with a big heart and a few worries about the world around me. Once I get to know you and realize I’m safe, I can be an incredibly loving and cuddly companion who wants nothing more than to stick by your side. My foster dad has become my special person, and I’m very devoted to him, sometimes even feeling the need to protect him from people I don’t know. I’m a smart boy who is very motivated by food, which can be a great help when working with me. I absolutely love getting outside to explore and burn off some of my energy, and I need regular outdoor time to help me feel my best. I may be a senior, but don’t let that fool you because I’m still energetic, quick on my feet, and full of life! Car rides are another favourite of mine, especially when I can feel the breeze coming through the windows. I’m looking for a special home that will give me time to settle in, respect my boundaries, and help me navigate the world at my own pace, because underneath my worries is a loving boy who has so much affection to give.
About my Behaviour:
Strangers make me nervous, and I can be reactive toward people I see outside, so I’ll need a patient, experienced family who understands my anxiety and is committed to helping me feel safe. I’m also quite the little watchdog at home, and noises at the door can get me barking to let everyone know something is happening. I am mostly house trained but do need to go out regularly and have had some accidents. I am not crate trained. I am still quite energetic and will need regular exercise and mental activities. To ensure we get off on the right paw, my adopters will be required to sign up for force-free training. You can find a list of great trainers at www.albertaforcefreealliance.com.
How’s my Health?
I recently had a dental and had to have the majority of my teeth removed. I do sometimes have bladder control issues and I am currently on a diet as I need to lose some weight. I am neutered, up to date on my vaccinations, and microchipped.
