Birdie Lassie | Female | Mixed Breed |
Rescue Story:
I was found with my mama and siblings when we were only about a week old. I was adopted out as a puppy but unfortunately it didn't work out and I was returned. I have battled through some health issues including two hip surgeries but am now ready to start my search for a forever home.
Date of Birth: December 16, 2024 (est)
Energy Level: Medium - Because of my hips, I only go on short walks, but I love to be outside sniffing around or napping in the sun
Size (adult): Large (approx. 65 lbs)
Adoption Fee: $425 for ALL this floofy cuteness!
Good with Dogs? Yes
I get along with other dogs and would do well in a home with a calm, big dog or as a solo dog. No small dogs as I do try to herd them.
Good with Cats? Maybe
I currently live with a cat but I think it's my job to herd them
Good with Kids? Yes
I haven't spend any time around really young kids, but I do great around school-aged children
Critter Twitter:
I'm a very sweet girl who just wants be loved and feel special. I am very smart and love attention, but I can be vocal when I'm feeling anxious or if there's something I think I need to let you know about. I am very enthusiastic about getting outside as soon as you are awake! I am happy to play with my toys or chill watching you go about your day for a while. I love going on walks for the sniffs and to meet other friendly doggies, but keep in mind that my hips only allow a couple short walks a day right now. I love to observe the outdoors, be outside with my family and I'm great on car rides. I enjoy learning new things as much as I love curling up for a nap - my current pawrents give me daily mental stimulation games to keep me sharp!
About my Behaviour:
I would do best in a family with a predictable schedule and calm house. I can be food reactive so it would be best to feed me separately from other dogs that may be in the house. I was born to herd, especially any small dogs or cats I see, but because of my hip surgeries, I currently have less stamina than you might expect from a 1.5 year old girl. I am not crate trained, but am house trained and do very well on leash and on car rides. As a condition of adoption, we must register for a force free, in-person, group training class. We'll learn so much together and bond. Please check out www.albertaforcefreealliance.com for some great force free trainers!
How’s my Health?
I have been spayed, am up to date on my vaccinations, dewormed and microchipped. I have had two hip surgeries and I'm currently in recovery from the second one.
